New Trees, New Life
April 30—National Arbor DayAs editor of the Nebraska City News, Julius Sterling Morton proposed the first statewide Arbor Day for April 10, 1872. Over one million trees were planted on that day.
Today Arbor Day is celebrated on the last Friday of April, although many states alter the date for local growing seasons.
“Arbor Day is not like other holidays. Each of those reposes on the past, while Arbor Day proposes for the future.” –J. Sterling Morton

Trees are our belief that life will continue long past us. We planted cherry, apple, and blueberries here and just across the way, John Swanson has got a 15-tree orchard started that he will probably never reap the harvest from and yet there are the trees, growing strong and tall in the sun.
Hey I see a 114 number up there!!! Woo Hoo. I am a faithful follower of your bloggy wonderfulness.
